Finally the day arrived... A special Sunday... Heidi had forever waited for this moment and hoped to go through this day as fast as possible... The whole household woke up around 6:30 in the morning... The daily routine on a Sunday morning before going down to church was being carried out... Everyone was busy getting ready... Late was not an option especially on this particular Sunday... The reason? It was Father's Day!
After everybody had gotten ready we all went to the car and drove off to St. Mary's Cathedral, located right next to Padang Merdeka... On our way there Heidi's palms started to sweat a little... She was scared... There was something the church committee had asked her to do... And it was beyond her will... Still she had to go with it... When we arrived at St. Mary's Uncle Stephen dropped us by the front courtyard before he went and looked for a parking space... Me, Aunt Adela, Heidi, and Benjamin made our way to the hall where the Iban service will be held...
Heidi and myself looked for seats next to the window which was facing the fountain in the garden outside...
Some place else Benjamin, Heidi's younger brother, searched for his fellow friends to play with... As for Aunt Adela, she was at the entrance of the hall giving out small shirt-liked paper origami that we had made two nights ago...
It was past 8:00 when the service started... We were waiting anxiously for Heidi's turn... She was about to read the Apostle! It felt like eternity for her turn to go upfront... When her name was finally called out, I smiled at her before she headed to the podium... There was a happy emotion showing from her face... She did not have to read the whole 18 sentences... Instead it was reduced to only 8 verses...
It all soon came to an end... She finished reading in less than 10 minutes... When she was done she dashed back to her seat and sighed a sign of relief...
The ordeal was now officially OVER! And we went through the service with special songs for the fathers and also vows from them...
The service ended around 10:15... We had to give way for another service at 10:30... So Heidi and I went out from the hall and met up with Kirstin, Jonathan, and Timothy... Not to forget another friend of them which I did not manage to get his name...
All of a sudden something happened... There was chaos somewhere near us... Being curious we tried to find out what had made the commotion... We were later told that an elderly man had collapsed to the floor... With no reason at all... Just slumped to the ground... People were fanning him and giving him water to drink... In the attempt to revive him back from his unconscious state... When everything was not doing any good to his weak condition some church member called the ambulance...
The place was getting crowded as more and more people started streaming to the side of the old man... Felling stuffy me and Heidi decided to head outside to get fresh air...
For me, I took this time to admire the newly renovated cathedral... And also the buzzing sounds of the city of Kuala Lumpur...
Took photos of the surrounding area...
Soon it all ended with us taking pictures of ourselves... Minding our own business... Not joining the people inside the church...
Where? In the comfort of the car...
